Wallace must deliver

They’ve walked the walk and talked the talk, and now its time for the Richmond players and Terry Wallace to stand up and be counted..

In less than 48 hours, the 2008 AFL kicks-off at the MCG when Chris Judd leads the Blues into battle with the Tigers.

If one was to conduct a straw poll as to which AFL coach is under the most pressure, I’m tipping about 75% would nominate Terry Wallace.

Wallace, who began his tenure at Richmond with grand aspirations, must be feeling some heat.

Richmond has a long and well documented history of sacking coaches and Wallace will go into this season knowing that he must somehow manufacture a winning culture within the players’ mindset, after three disappointing seasons at the helm.

Last season Richmond won just three matches, drew one and finished last on the AFL ladder – not good enough for the Richmond faithful.

Wallace does have the security of a five-year contract, but even Terry would admit that he’s skating on thin ice as the Tigers prepare the 2008 season.
