The NAB cup betting has been sensational for punters with plenty of value being pounced upon..
St Kilda is now the $3.10 favourites to win the NAB Cup after knocking out reigning AFL premiers Geelong at the weekend.
The Cats came in for good support, including one wager of $10,000 at $1.63, but it was the Saints who marched through to the next round. Winning bets included $5000 at $2.32.
Adelaide ended Fremantle’s chance of a flag after coming in for strong support throughout betting, including $10,000 at $1.83 and $5000 at $1.77 on the way in.
Essendon were also the subject of a successful $10,000 bet (at $1.75) plus bets on the line, the margin (over 40+ @ $6) and even the Half Time/Full Time double (Ess/Ess). Punters have continued to fancy the Bombers in the NAB cup despite being the $4.35 outsiders to win it and have been the best backed team this week.
The two heavyweight New Zealand teams did the right thing by punters in the Rugby Union at the weekend, both winning by big margins.
The Crusaders were backed from $1.90 into $1.85 at the 5 point line and never gave anyone a moment’s concern as they cruised to a 54-19 win over the Bulls.
The Blues were also expected to cover the line, with a number of $5000 wagers finding the mark at -11.5 as they disposed of the Lions 55-10.
The Cheetahs suffered another heart-breaking loss but the punters who took the 1.5 points start would have been laughing as they got within a point of the Western Force.
Newcastle turned the tables on their major-semi final conquerors in a controversial A-League Grand Final at the weekend.
The Jets were humiliated by Central Coast two weeks earlier but were able to land a 1-0 win, much to the disappointment of punters, who were expecting another Central Coast win.
The Mariners were well backed in the game from $2.30 into $2.20 and then again at a $2.55 half time quote as well as receiving plenty of support throughout the season in the outright betting.
Tiger ... again!
The format may have been different, but the result was the same as Tiger Woods took out the WGC Match Play beating Stewart Cink at the weekend in the final.
The true believers were able to land good odds about Woods all week as he looked down and out. We fielded an $8200 bet on Woods at $2.30 after the second round and then another $10,000 at $2 after his third round win.
At times though, punters got as much as $4 about his chances when he looked dead and buried, but true to form, he proved too good.
